The Southern Utah LEGO® User Group (SULUG) is a new, family-friendly community designed to bring together LEGO enthusiasts of all ages in the St. George area and beyond, Adult Fans of LEGO® (AFOLs), collectors, builders, and families, for regular meetings filled with show-and-tell sessions, collaborative builds, technique sharing, and creative workshops. By fostering connections, organizing local displays and events, and providing a welcoming space to inspire creativity with LEGO bricks, SULUG aims to serve southern Utah’s passionate LEGO® community with opportunities to learn, collaborate, and celebrate the joy of building right here at home.
So what is LUG?
A LEGO® User Group (LUG) is a community of passionate LEGO® enthusiasts—primarily Adult Fans of LEGO® (AFOLs), but often including families and younger builders—who come together to share their love for building, collecting, and creating with LEGO® bricks. LUGs typically organize regular in-person or online meetings where members:
- Show off their latest MOCs (My Own Creations)
- Exchange building tips and techniques
- Collaborate on large group projects (like city layouts, train displays, or themed dioramas)
- Plan and set up public exhibitions at conventions, libraries, malls, or local events
- Host workshops, challenges, social gatherings, and sometimes charity builds
Many LUGs participate in or help organize fan conventions (such as BrickSlopes in Utah or Brickworld in other regions), and some become officially Recognized LEGO® User Groups (RLUGs) through the LEGO Ambassador Network, gaining benefits like access to the LUGBULK program for discounted parts. In short, LUGs provide a welcoming, creative space for LEGO® lovers to connect, inspire each other, improve their skills, and share the joy of LEGO® with their local community.
